It's like the accelerator is stuck...

...and I can't slow down.

What a week. What a month.

Zachary is now two weeks old. And he acts like it. Sleep. Cry. Eat. Sleep again. Always in that order. But such is parenthood. If I hadn't wanted to deal with this, then I should've been a bit more cautious 9 months ago...heh.

Anyway, Stacey's sister Sharon is here helping out a LOT. My brother arrives this Saturday with Diana, his significant other.

...

Band practice tonight started rough, but wound up okay. Philip is filling in for 'the E' again this week, though he seemed disappointed with his performance tonight. Like a true musician, he's certainly harder on himself than anyone else is. As far as I'm concerned, he did great tonight. Also, he's got this really nice new Fender five-string bass. Looks beautiful, sounds even better.

After practice, I headed to Red Lobster for some solo-eating (i.e., no wife or kids involved) with J-mo and Kyle. Good food. Odd question of the night: "Are that girl's arms too short?"

...

I hate allergies, but love being outdoors. What a predicament. It was clear and 75 outside today. Great time to get some stuff in the yard done. But, alas... I've been sneezing, sniffing, and coughing steadily for about two weeks now. Damn grass pollen. Medication helps, but not entirely. Had a coughing fit so violent today that I literally pulled a muscle on my lower rib cage. Ow. Now coughing (or sneezing) results in agonizing pain as well.

How weird is that?

Got this new book I've started reading by Brian McLaren called (gotta copy/paste this title):

A Generous Orthodoxy: Why I Am a Missional, Evangelical, Post/Protestant, Liberal/Conservative, Mystical/Poetic, Biblical, Charismatic/Contemplative, Fundamentalist/Calvinist, Anabaptist/Anglican, Methodist, Catholic, Green, Incarnational, Depressed-yet-Hopeful, Emergent, Unfinished CHRISTIAN, by Brian McLaren, one of my favorite writers.

I've only gotten past the introduction and the first chapter, and I'm blown away by it. I don't even know how to explain in few words how even the beginning of the book tears away at fundamentalist/orthodox-driven Christianity AND liberal Christianity and the foundationalistic error of both sides (If you have a philosophical understanding what that statement means, then you have to read this book...I won't mislead you, though...it's DEEP). At any rate, the writer's good at putting into words so much I feel and think about the problems with 'Christianity' as it's culturally defined and identified (even by Christians) today. I hope the rest of the book proves to be as insightful. I may dialogue about ideas posted in it later on...

Anyway, here's a link if any of you are interested...
