Drowning in Normalcy...

Today was a perfectly normal day. Stacey worked, I watched Kailyn all day and engaged in the ongoing project that is the 'house,' and that's about it. But, amidst the normalcy, there were some moments worth noting.

First, I don't know what to think of buy.com. Last week, I ordered a pair of surround speakers (after cancelling an order with ecost.com) and a DVD. The DVD arrived the next day. But...2 glitches followed. First, I could not log into the buy.com website to track my order. I dunno why. I reset my password, and...to this day...have not received any of the 4 e-mails they sent me to correct the problem. -Sigh- So, after tracking down a very difficult to find phone number (it's not posted on their website), I managed to finally call them...only to find that my speakers were on backorder (though they said they were in stock). -Sigh-

Anyway, the story gets worse. When I called today, they could give me no information on when the speakers would be in stock (same old song I heard from ecost). He had no information when the items would be re-stocked...like at Ecost, the issue was one from the manufacturer...not buy.com. So, I cancelled my order for the black set of speakers and changed to the maple set, which were showing to be in stock. The salesman told me it would take up to 24 hours for my order to officially be cancelled, but I could go ahead and order the alternate speaker set, which I did (which were also, almost 1/2 the price, ironically...weird).

However...-sigh- I check my e-mail tonight to find out that...because of some glitch in their system...they actually DID have the black speakers in stock, and they shipped out today. D'OH! So, now I have to try to cancel the other order BEFORE they ship, too. Good...freakin'...grief!

Technology will kill us all...

Second...on a happier note...We went to Princeton's tonight when Stacey got home...me, Stacey, Kailyn, and J-mo. We all split an order of chicken tenders and some fried mushrooms, so it was also a wallet-friendly visit to Princeton's. But, like always, now I smell like Princeton's. Do they just circulate grease through the ventilation system??

I missed being able to make it to the stamp giveaway today at the post office. I hated that, because I was able to make it last year, and it was pretty fun. Also, the weather was nice... So...crap!!

Hehe...on a funny note, Chad called me this morning, and all he said was "Kevin, call me back on my work phone." (I assume he wanted to save cellular minutes). But, since that's all he said, I go upstairs to get his work number...the whole time, I'm thinking, what's wrong? Bad news? What? I dial, he picks up, and says..."Man, have you heard about the new Transformers game?" I was a bit dumbfounded and relieved...all at the same time. "Quick...check out www.atari.com/transformers." So, I do. That whole conversation struck me pretty funny...but, being an avid gamer, I appreciated the heads-up about the game. However, -sigh- the concept of the game looked pretty cool (so did the website), so...now I'm faced with the financial dilemma of adding yet another must-have game to my collection. But...come on...it's a freakin' Transformers game...a game my soul has been crying out for since 1983. Woohoo!

Get your geek on.

KEY PHRASES: "But...come on...it's a freakin' Transformers game." "It's okay to eat at Princeton's since it's late in the day...that way, we won't stink ALL day." "J-mo's like a 'dealer' in technology. He's got his source, and he's always 'pushing' technology on us. And, being the addicts we are, have to get our fix." (My thoughts after splurging on a set of Shure E5's at a killer price). "J-mo...what else you got?"
